The Brief: Google is adding several Google Workspace updates covering agentic automation, calendar invitations, in-person meetings, and administration.
As part of these changes, Workspace Studio now includes enterprise controls for agent identities, access management, auditing, administrator settings, human approval, and runtime protections. In addition, collaboration steps allow flows to perform actions across users with controls around permissions and data use.
Meanwhile, Google Calendar administrators can now determine which invitation settings are available to users, including how invitations from unknown senders are handled. Google Meet is also rolling out Take Notes for in-person meetings, using Gemini to create notes, action items, transcripts, and a Google Doc.
Finally, Admin Assist brings Gemini-powered sidepanel support and Search Overviews to the Admin Console for eligible Business editions.

Workspace Studio is adding more controls to help organizations manage automated workflows safely. New flows can use only the permissions they need, instead of receiving all the permissions available to the flow owner. Each flow also receives a unique identifier that can be used for auditing.
Administrators can manage these flows from the Admin Console, including suspending a flow or removing specific OAuth access, such as access to Drive. Audit records can capture flow activity, while related actions in Gmail and Drive can include information about the flow involved.
Google is also adding controls for sensitive actions. Administrators can restrict certain flow steps, limit Gemini data access, require users to approve external data sharing, or disable webhook integrations. DLP controls can further restrict how Gemini and Studio flows use data based on defined conditions.
Google is giving Workspace administrators more control over how Google Calendar invitations are added to users’ calendars.
Organizations can now set which invitation options users can select at the organizational unit or group level. Users may be allowed to accept invitations from everyone, from known senders only, or only after responding through email. Google sets “From everyone” as the default, but administrators can adjust the available choices.
The update also brings Gemini-powered assistance to the Google Admin Console through Admin Assist. Super Admins using eligible Business editions can access a side panel for help with administrative tasks and guidance. A Search Overviews feature can also summarize relevant Workspace Help Center information when administrators search for answers. These capabilities are designed for Super Admins, with no access for Delegated Admins.
The new Google Meet Take Notes feature brings Gemini into in-person meetings, which allows users to capture what happens during a discussion without relying entirely on manual note taking.
A session can be started directly from Meet on the web or mobile, with Gemini recording the information needed to create meeting documentation. After the session is completed, users receive a Google Doc containing a summary of the meeting, action items, and the complete transcript.
Google Drive stores the document, and a link is sent to the user by email. Administrators can manage the feature through existing Meet notes settings. The rollout is taking place in stages, with Android, web, and iOS receiving the feature on different schedules.
Availability covers selected Business and Enterprise editions, Frontline Plus, and Google AI Pro for Education, while consumers can access it through Google AI Pro and Ultra.
These updates bring Gemini and automation into more areas of Google Workspace, including administration, collaboration, meetings, and communication. They also build on Workspace’s existing combination of productivity tools and administrator controls.
