Barco ClickShare Connects Flexibility with More Adaptable Meeting Rooms

The Brief: Barco’s ClickShare summer release introduces updates intended to give meeting rooms more flexibility, simpler deployment options, and security validation.

Wireless BYOD for Microsoft Teams Rooms lets users run meetings from a laptop while using the room’s display, camera, microphone, and speakers, including when the meeting uses another conferencing platform.

Barco is also introducing a certified ClickShare Hub Core and Logitech MeetUp 2 bundle for smaller meeting rooms. A USB-C Extension over CAT kit, scheduled for September, supports USB 2.0 and DisplayPort connectivity up to 40 meters through CAT 5e or higher cabling.

In addition, ClickShare CX-50 2nd generation has received ANSSI CSPN certification for an approved configuration. The release provides guidance for updating Base Units, Buttons, apps, and management platforms.

Barco ClickShare Summer Release Brings Flexible BYOD and Simpler Deployments

Analyst Perspective: Barco’s summer ClickShare release presents a coherent set of updates across user workflows, room deployment, and security validation. The common thread is greater adaptability within a room environment. Wireless BYOD adds a way to accommodate meetings initiated from a user laptop, while the Hub Core and Logitech MeetUp 2 bundle gives customers a packaged option for smaller rooms.

The release shows how Barco is developing ClickShare as more than a wireless presentation product. The Hub ecosystem brings conferencing, room peripherals, management, and Microsoft Teams Rooms into the same product family, while the new extension kit addresses the physical realities of larger installations. That combination gives ClickShare relevance across different room configurations without requiring every space to follow an identical deployment model.

Security receives separate attention through the CX-50 2nd generation certification. ANSSI CSPN adds independent validation to a defined product configuration, giving security teams a concrete certification reference when reviewing eligible deployments.

Wireless BYOD Extends the Use of Microsoft Teams Rooms

Wireless BYOD for Microsoft Teams Rooms allows users to run a meeting from their own laptop while still using the room’s display, camera, microphone, and speakers. This gives participants more freedom when a meeting does not take place on Teams.

To use the feature, participants enter the Teams Room, connect the next-generation ClickShare Button to their laptop, and start a meeting on their preferred conferencing platform. They then press the Button to share content wirelessly while continuing to use the room’s built-in equipment. This can be useful when a customer or partner uses another platform, a meeting room changes unexpectedly, or a guest needs to host from their own device.

Once the meeting ends, the room returns to its normal Microsoft Teams Rooms experience. For IT teams, Barco expects the feature to reduce support requests, avoid adding more room equipment, simplify room management, and encourage greater use of existing meeting room technology.

ClickShare Hub Core and Logitech MeetUp 2 Target Smaller Rooms

The new ClickShare Hub Core and Logitech MeetUp 2 bundle is designed for smaller meeting rooms that use Microsoft Teams. It combines ClickShare Hub Core with the Logitech MeetUp 2 video bar in a certified room setup.

ClickShare Hub Core supports 4K wireless content sharing through the next-generation ClickShare Button, while the MeetUp 2 provides AI-enhanced audio and video. The system is built on Microsoft’s Device Ecosystem Platform for Teams Rooms.

The bundle adds another room option to the ClickShare Hub lineup, giving organizations a packaged solution for smaller spaces. It also makes it easier to select the required room technology, with the main collaboration and video components provided as a certified combination.

USB-C Extension Over CAT Adds Installation Options

The USB-C Extension over CAT kit arriving in September is designed for larger meeting rooms where long cable runs can make installation more difficult.

The kit can extend USB 2.0 and DisplayPort connectivity up to 40 meters using CAT 5e cabling or higher. It supports several installation options, including connecting the ClickShare Hub Base Unit to the Control Panel over a longer distance.

It can also provide wired laptop content sharing at the meeting table, with optional laptop charging. A third setup uses two kits to support both Control Panel extension and wired content sharing.

For standard use, the kit does not require a separate power supply because it is powered by the ClickShare Hub Base Unit. This gives installers more flexibility when placing room controls and wired connections in spaces with challenging layouts.

ClickShare’s Portfolio Moves Toward More Defined Room Choices

ClickShare’s lineup gives this release a place in Barco’s strategy. Hub provides a modular Teams Rooms foundation, while CX-50 2nd generation serves organizations that require wireless conferencing and security assurance.

The additions address customer requirements within that portfolio. Smaller rooms gain a certified Logitech configuration, larger spaces gain an installation option, and users can bring conferencing applications into Teams Rooms.

Where Deployment Still Requires Care

The main consideration is deployment consistency. Wireless BYOD depends on compatible software and approved hardware, while the extension kit requires cabling and planning. Barco’s update guidance and documented certification scope can help IT teams manage these variables.

What Comes Next

The release gives Barco room to build on Hub through certified peripherals, accessories, and software.

Continued compatibility work across platforms and room configurations could make the ecosystem more useful to organizations managing mixed environments. Maintaining simplicity as choices increase will matter.
